"So what should we actually DO?"
Ideas to take with you.
- 01
Conviction cannot be borrowed – action taken on someone else's understanding has no stable foundation, so engagement with the ideas has to precede allocation of money or time.
- 02
Agency flows from surplus, defined as what remains after true needs and consciously chosen wants; where surplus appears absent, the first work is identifying forms not yet seen rather than assuming there are none.
- 03
Fiat is not neutral toward surplus – its mechanics siphon money through inflation, attention through algorithmic media, time through the treadmill, and even the capacity to care through individualization.
- 04
Manufactured wants – status signaling, mimetic desires, the property-ladder narrative – often mask basic needs that could be met more directly, and auditing them frees resources currently held hostage by keeping up appearances.
- 05
Time is the original unprintable resource distributed equally to every human, which makes the time audit the layer where meaningful surplus is available to almost anyone who chooses to carve it out.
